Wine & Dine San Diego -- Friday, October 14, 2011

San Diego's reigning king of barbecue (you know who you are) better watch its back, because newcomer, Brazen Barbecue Smokehouse & Bar has made its way from the smoky circuits of national competition to the corner of Fifth and Washington in Hillcrest. Based upon the delicious meatiness I was served up, I would say they're here to stay.
This past summer, Chefs John Bracamonte and Brad Thomas took over the space formerly occupied by Sushi Itto and transformed it into Brazen Barbecue Smokehouse and Bar. The two young chefs learned their craft on the national barbecue competition circuit. In their first year the duo earned the Rookie-of-the-Year award. They have finished in California's top ten, and the nation's top 100 and received second place in the 2011 USA BBQ Championship in Las Vegas.
Find them at The Lost & Found Saloon! Head straight to our saloon for some great drink specials and BBQ bites. Happy Hour specials served from 3:30 - 6:30pm daily and all day on Sundays. Hope to see you in soon!
While the Brazen BBQ team is garnering awards for its true southern smokehouse cooking, it’s their bold and original new cuisine that sets them apart from the local barbecue scene. Ask yourself when was the last time you tasted real wood smoked meats, or a Texas-Style BBQ Reuben, or Crawfish Mac & Cheese Balls? Those are just a few of the innovative dishes and tastes that await you at Brazen BBQ.
