Brazen BBQ Smokehouse & Bar and Brazen Catering are the realization of the shared vision of two young and entrepreneurial chefs—John Bracamonte and Brad Thomas. But it was their early success in competition against the nation’s best barbecue chefs that brought their common vision into focus and set them off on their quest.

It all began in 2009 on the national barbecue circuit. There the two competed in a number of cooking events sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) and the International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA). Though it was just their first year, the Brazen BBQ team managed to garner rave reviews from the judges and earn a slew of awards including the California BBQ Association’s coveted Rookie of the Year award, finish in California’s top ten, and the nation’s top 100.

As you might imagine, that was an exciting year for the team. Importantly, their depth of knowledge of classic barbecue cuisine and cooking techniques grew exponentially. And they had earned the respect of some of the nation’s top chefs and met some truly extraordinary people along the way.

But their early success in competition left the award-winning team wanting more. As a result, they remain active on the national circuit, continue to hone their barbecue cooking techniques and flavors, and focus on achieving their ultimate quest—to serve you and yours the most unforgettable smokehouse barbecue you’ll ever taste.
